The Crew
Big Band Music
About Us
The Crew is a full 19 piece swing band consisting of five saxophones, eight brass, four rhythm and two vocalists. We play for dances, festivals, benefits, concerts, and special dinner events integrating listening and dance music with your program.
Meet the Band
The Crew big band consists of experienced musicians from the Orlando Florida area. We formed our band in 2009 with the objective of bringing together talented players capable of performing a wide variety of music ranging from the big bands of yesterdays to present high intensity bands of today. Our library is extensive and can be tailored to the needs of your venue.
Wilbur "Smitty" Smith is a retired career Navy Warrant Officer who has led several outstanding fleet bands. He is also a talented trumpet player and currently leads the VFW Post 2093 Concert Band. You will enjoy his interaction with the audience and the band while closely providing coordination to the requirements of your program. Emceeing and directing and coordination are a natural for Smitty especially during the special activities which your program demands.

The Talent
The musicianship in the band is varied and comes from many years of experience. Several musicians have played with notable bands and orchestras both popular and classical. Our musicians come from a background of military bands, symphony orchestras, cruise ship bands, several "ghost" bands of yesteryear (you know them), and have been on-stage with countless legends of jazz giants.
Our library consists of well over 1,000 arrangements many special and arranged by our talented members. We bring back the memories of the big bands such as Artie Shaw, Harry James, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Stan Kenton, Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey and many others.
